Ireland Qualify for the 2012 Euro's.
Ireland 1-1 Estonia (5-1 agg)
Ireland have qualified for the 2012 Euro's to be held the last three weeks in June. Sixteen teams make up the contest which most soccer pundits agree is a stronger tournament on the whole than the World Cup. The draw for the 4 groups will be made on December 2nd. We are in pot number four. Best case scenario is Poland, Russia, Greece and Ireland. Worst case scenario maybe Spain, Germany, Portugal and Ireland. But hey, if you want to be the best you have to be the best.
This promises to be a summer of fun, for at least three weeks anyway!

Following the final round of Euro 2012 qualifiers Ireland finished in second place in Group B, two points behind Russia. Due to the national team coefficient rankings (which ranked the Republic of Ireland 13th in the World) Ireland went into the eight team play off draw as one of the four seeded teams. This meant that Ireland avoided heavyweights such as Portugal, Croatia, and the Czech Republic, and could only be drawn against Bosnia & Herzegovina, Estonia, Montenegro, and Turkey. Some unpleasant memories from a previous play off encounter against Turkey in the Euro 2000 qualifiers suggested that most Irish supporters wanted to avoid the Turks. And so it is, a two legged affair, playing away from home on November 11th and at Home for the second and Final leg on November 15th. Hopefully on the 16th we can start to book the tickets for next summers adventures. |

Ireland 2-1 Armenia
A good night in D4 last night and the result was the one we wanted. Looking forward to the draw on Thursday now and happy that we are one of the four seeded teams. We will not have to beat Ronaldo and Nani just yet.
It's all on the line on November 11th and 15th.

Ireland v Armenia, October 11th
I am in the U.K. at the minute but flying over this evening to Dublin for the game tomorrow night versus Armenia. It is crucial first and foremost that we win this game and secondly, pray for a miracle win in Russia from Andorra. Although it is more likely that I will sign for Real Madrid.
I hope the crowd can remain positive tomorrow night in Dublin as they have shown recently that they are fickle and voice their worries very quickly. This will NOT help the team in any way. So if you have negative thoughts, keep them quietly to yourself.
